Last weekend I went to the new Daiso store in California's South Bay area. There are a lot of Daiso stores in the northern part of the state, but up until last month, there were no locations in the Los Angeles area. Daiso is best known in Japan as a chain of ¥100 stores that sell inexpensive housewares, stationery, foodstuffs, etc. Similar to the 99¢ Stores so popular in the States - only loads better. Their products are so much cuter. Check out what I bought for less than $20!

I grabbed the last yuzu-shaped dish in stock!

The storefront is so shiny and new

Even the store's support beams are pretty

Pretty much every product in the store is priced at $1.50, unless otherwise marked. Since the store is only a few weeks old, it's very clean and organized. I'm not sure if it's going to stay like this, but I sure hope so. Each aisle is labeled - in Japanese and English - so you know where to find stuff. The snack selection isn't that great, but there's a Marukai next door that sells fresh food, and even has a small bakery inside (where I bought a melon pan/メロンパン).

Some of the kawaii stuff sold here

In a couple of weeks an Orange County location will be opening up. I guess I know what a portion of my paycheck will be going toward quite regularly. One can never have enough kawaii tchotchkes!
