Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2

Jul 15, 2011 16:30

And there it was. The final film in the Harry Potter saga, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. I went to the midnight screening last night dressed up in my Ravenclaw uniform, with pumpkin pasties and butterbeer in tow. I saw it in 2D, but I think I want to see it again in 3D.

I expected to cry buckets of tears, and although I did shed ( Read more... )

I'm typing this with my eyes closed..........

Well, not really. Hehehe. =P

But I purposely did not read the above yet. I will do so after I watch. Hehehe. I don't like crowded movie houses so I don't usually go during the first week. Don't like weekends either. So I'll probably go sometime this coming week. Should be ok to go in the middle of the day since I have nothing much to do. =P Will get back to you then. Hehehe. =P

I generally don't like watching a movie during its opening week either, but I always make an exception for Harry Potter. There's just something about the anticipation while waiting in line with dozens of other devoted HP fans that makes the experience enjoyable. It's like a big family. I was lucky at the midnight screenings of DH parts 1 and 2 to not have to deal with obnoxious, annoying people in the theater. They were good crowds. :)

Do come back here after you see the film so we can discuss it! I'd love to hear what you think of it.

♥ Ron's disguise when they go into Gringott's...not gonna lie, he looked good
With the risk of making a fool out of myself: I didn't initially realise that was Ron and was wondering who the hell that was o.O So yes, it was very good.

♥ When the professors and the Order put protective enchantments around the castle, I got chills
This. So much. I got chills too. Man how badass was she with those stone knights?

♥ The Prince's Tale
♥ ♥ ♥

。 Harry wasn't naked in the King's Cross scene!
Haha I guess they didn't want it to be rated R :P

。 Neville doesn't say, "I'll join you when hell freezes over. Dumbledore's Army!"
Neville is the unexpected (badass) hero in this part of the book, they should've let him keep this line!

。 Malfoy in the epilogue scene was too old - they should've reshot his scenes too, not just the trio's
Scenes were reshot? Why? And what was it before?

Tell me what you thought of the film. What did you like/dislike? Did you cry your eyes out, or were you relatively calm the whole time watching it?I cried my eyes out. ( ... )

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Zarina! ♥

Good, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought Rupert looked really good with the long hair and beard. ;)

Yeah, yeah...I get that they wanted to keep the movie PG-13 and decided to have Harry clothed in the King's Cross scene. ;P But in my head, he'll always be naked. LOL.

The epilogue scene was originally shot when the rest of the film was shot, but some photos of the aged trio and Draco leaked on the interwebs, and the reaction was not good. They all looked about 50 years old instead of in their 30s. So they called back Dan, Rupert, Emma and the kid actors to reshoot the scene. I saw the original leaked photos back then, and they did look pretty awful. Grey hair, receding hairlines, too many wrinkles. What you saw in the film of the trio is soooo much more realistic, and I felt it was a smart move to redo the scene. But for some reason, they felt Draco looked fine the first time around and decided not to call back Tom and Jade to do a reshoot. It's a shame, because the trio looks ( ... )

re:Cormac McLaggen and Cho Chang
It was also kinda weird how Luna was in school all of sudden too.

I was also hoping for a Neville mention of Dumbledore's Army to make up for the cut Hogwarts battle in Half Blood Prince. I also would have liked a glimse of young Dumbledore. They set things up in Part 1 regarding "the thief" and kind of just drop it. I feel like the Abaforth scene threw a character assassination bomb about Albus and the filmmakers never really follow up. It saddens me because one of the things I really like about the last book is the idea that your idols are human with flaws. And you have to choose what you are willing to forgive etc. That's the difference between Dumbledore and Aslan the Lion! ;)

That said, I still generally like all of these HP films.

Oh yeah, Luna. I wasn't concerned with her suddenly being in school again because I just love her and was happy she was there ( ... )
