Well, it depends on where you're going. You probably have heard this or experienced it (if you've been to Japan already), but bring both comfortable shoes and slip-offs. The latter are a must for visits to shrines, traditional restaurants, or family homes.
Don't bring shorts... no one wears shorts. You should be pretty safe with what you're bringing. The Japanese are second only to the French in their attention to fashion. Pretty intimidating, actually.
thanks for your advice arison-san, atashi ha nankaimo nihon e ita koto ga aru. actually, i used to live in kyoto, not far from where you are now. kamigamo jinja ha kirei desune~
I'm going back next month to visit friends in Hokkaido. I'll also have a few days in Tokyo. This is where my clothing dilemma starts-- it will be spring/warm in tokyo, but still chilly in hokkaido. I know how cold it'll be because i have lived there too (if you want to go back into my archives from '01-'02 you can read all about my JET experience..), but i'm trying to maximize the space in my suitcase, you know?
what are you doing over there? I'll admit i was surprized to get your comment, i sometimes forget that anyone else would read what I write aside from the friends/family on my friends list. thanks for stopping by~
