Unpopular Fannish Thought of the Month (tm)

Mar 03, 2011 20:31

So, this morning, a friend said something to me that first made me go "Huh?". And then she elaborated. And then I started thinking about it, and my brain came up with more arguments in favor of her theory, and yeah, I ended up thinking, "Darn! That explains so much ( Read more... )

Actually, I had this thought once or twice as well, as I read his tweets. I feel like MW and his excitement in doing something epic together let them run into something too big, IDK.
I felt like MW influenced him too much. It is kind of not fair towards the other actors opinions as well.

Sammy, you’re a talented writer and that’s why I start reading your journal ( ... )

because I never think he was an outstanding writer

I thought he was because the eps that stuck with me had *moved* me - and silly me assumed it was the writing that managed that. It took me until now that I realized it was most likely the director at work there.

the line “how was your summer?”It actually cheapened the previous reaction for me, too. But in some ways, I even understand why they did it like that. Because what they are dealing with here is heavy stuff for prime time entertainment. It's the same reason the second "Lord of the Rings" movie inserted blatant humor at totally inappropriate scenes - to lighten the heavy mood, to make it less harsh, to keep some of the bite out of it ( ... )

I'm one of those people who has never really paid all that much attention to who writes what episodes. The one show I can think of that I did do that with was Lost, and that's because certain writers wrote certain characters so much better than others that you knew it was going to be epic when you saw a character and a writer merge to tell a beautiful story. I don't do that with NCIS. I don't know why ( ... )

I completely agree. I love that you "no longer want to have his babies". I always loved that with Joss Whedon you never felt pushed to feel something, that feeling was just there (with the exception of Dawn, who I refuse to talk about).

Hit post too soon, sorry!

And not by instigating jealousy. Meh, done with that. The realization comes by giving them both a chance to step away from each other. To refresh and realize some things about themselves to trigger a reconciliation and acceptance of sorts.

That's not her primary purpose, though. It's incidental to EJ. Sarah Jane Morris even said it outright. She's so much more than a foil for Ziva. There are huge things planned for the character.

Here's a thought for you:

Serial killer. Baltimore. Tony. Gibbs. Hmmm.

Why would they not have the primaries investigating? What could make the Director bring in someone totally uninvolved with the case, unless there was some reason the MCRT for the area *couldn't* and *shouldn't* be involved?

That's the key here.

I like your clearity of mind about this whole thing. Especially your thought: Serial killer. Baltimore. Tony. Gibbs.

I think you're right but if the Director brought because so far she's been uninvolved with said case, then what is she doing hitting skins with Tony? Wouldn't it break Vance's rules regarding this alleged case?

Oh, well, who knows? We'll have to wait and see

Nice thinking, anyhow.

I think it goes both ways. You have big Tony fans saying "Tiva" fans (how I loathe that word) just don't like the episode because of the EJ stuff. But you could just as easily say that a lot of the big Tony fans simply like the episode because of all the Tony love instead of it really being a quality episode. There's not really a right or wrong ( ... )
