So, this morning, a friend said something to me that first made me go "Huh?". And then she elaborated. And then I started thinking about it, and my brain came up with more arguments in favor of her theory, and yeah, I ended up thinking, "Darn! That explains so much

I thought he was because the eps that stuck with me had *moved* me - and silly me assumed it was the writing that managed that. It took me until now that I realized it was most likely the director at work there.
the line “how was your summer?”
It actually cheapened the previous reaction for me, too. But in some ways, I even understand why they did it like that. Because what they are dealing with here is heavy stuff for prime time entertainment. It's the same reason the second "Lord of the Rings" movie inserted blatant humor at totally inappropriate scenes - to lighten the heavy mood, to make it less harsh, to keep some of the bite out of it.
Because when you look behind the scenes of what is happening there, we have Ziva in a country that has been a war zone (literally) for nineteen years. And she has been most likely tortured, beaten, starved and raped for three months. So yeah, I kinda get why they pulled that one on us. To distract our minds from actually going there.
I totally agree about the bullpen scene, though. I never understood why they went all back to NCIS in the first place. Bwuh?

Agreed, too. This last ep could have been a lot better, but they wasted an awful lot of potential. Also, it just rubbed me the wrong way, and the shower scene literally felt like a wet rag slapped to my face.
I know that was intentional. I know we are not supposed to like EJ. I know we're supposed to be suspicious of here because even the music cues us in. But goddammit, that doesn't make the pill go down any easier.
I hope you will continue to write
Oh, yeah. So far my muses don't huddle in a corner and hide. And thankfully, they're not in quite a destructive place as they were after "Obsession" (because that was when "Debris" happened and I don't care for that mental experience much, really). But I'm certainly in the right mood now to tackle Somalia, I swear. *sighs*
Haven't peeked at "The Good Wife" yet. Last year has been pretty good for me with strong gals, hee - Rizzoli & Isles, Lost Girl, Hawaii Five-O, Chase (r.i.p. *sniff*) and Covert Affairs have all been pretty amazing for me.
At any rate, thank you for stopping by and commenting. It's interesting to see what discussions like these bring around. :)
