Have you researched private stem cell researchers in the US? The only thing Bush banned was using public funds for stem cell research...and there is a difference between stem cells and embryonic stem cells.

I can't imagine it costing less than the Chinese hospital. In fact, I'd expect the same treatment to cost at least $50,000 here in the US, specially at a private research facility.

I wasn't thinking expense necessarily as I was thinking communications and iffy political climates. I know of people who have gone to the Philippines for surgeries (hysterectomy, gallstones, and cosmetic procedures) that didn't cost a tenth of what they cost here in the States...all in comfort and safety. No insurance; they paid for it out of their own pocket. Not sure I'd go that route, but....

and in this day and age of global medicine, I'm wondering why a US insurance company wouldn't pay for the procedure. After all, I know for a fact that heart scans and certain other imaging procedures may be done at the loccal hospital, but they are wired to India and China for interpretation by their docs... less costly. why the heck not? It's all about turning a buck.

The treatments that are offered over there aren't offered here..

we don't use stemcells or anything else like it here.. it's too contrivercial...

But right now, that's really my mom's only hope.. something that's not proven and not guaranteed and tested.. because they dont have anything like that here... but they have it there...

and hell, I've always wanted to go to china.. *grin*
