I lost my nerve...

I've been meaning on calling my mom to ask her to send more money. We need the help, we can't make bills on my paycheck alone. Anyway, I've been meaning to ask for help again, and she called me tonight, and I chickened out. I didn't ask, I couldn't ask ( Read more... )

as a mom, if I can help, I will. I would hope that my daughter would come to me first. She is family. and if you are anything like Val is, she hates to talk about "inevitabilities", like when I qm no longer in this dimension...and that is why would would rather give it to you NOW than you having to wait and suffer... it's just money. We've been where you are now; it's hard raising a family...we know that.

You need to have this conversation with her...and some day you'll need to help your daughters. It is the way it is.

But I agree. Moms are not cash cows if we have done all we can for ourselves....you're working and taking care of a family. That's TWO jobs already. If your husband is working and doing all he can, you can't do any more. ASK! If she has it, she'll help...you know that.

*nodding*
Doug's a writer, and he stays home with the girls... we only have one car so him getting a job would be awkward at best, nearly impossible at worst..

it's just that she sends me money a lot (in my opinion) and I feel guilty that I can't manage it better...

*sigh* I'll ask, I'll just have to bite the bullet... maybe I'll make doug do it *chucle*

mom will be mad if you DO NOT ask. Trust me on this.

Oh, and I was not criticizing your lifestyle. Every family has to work out what works for them. I stayed home when Val was little, but then I went off to school and make money :) My husband could always make more money than me, except when je was all mangled up from the accident and then it was my responsibility. But generally speaking, men can make more money than women...even part-time. If you're all happy, it is no one's business!

These are not good economic times for anyone...it is hard.

I didn't think you were... I know that you understand... Doug was making decent money as a teacher... low, but enough to (mostly) support the 3 of us... the insurance sucked...

the way things are in the world they're not set up for single income families with kids... Not anymore at least... and that's really what we want to be/do...
