It's okay. This is a really lonely feeling to have. While Monkey/Monkey Magic was pretty big in the UK/Australia in the 80s, I think there are probably only a handful of them who are into Japanese pop culture now, and even fewer of them have ever seen an episode of Chubaw Desu-yo. My sister has the last part obvs, but she was a little too young to watch Monkey. Sadface!!!!!
I definitely get you! I just had a moment an hour ago where my younger brother had never heard the song Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls and I flipped out. I could not fathom how that was even possible. Some things just feel like they should be universal LOL
But I think everyone has had a moment where they go "Who is that? I know that guy..." and then you look it up and your mind is blown. :D That's fun!
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE THAT SOMEONE DOESN'T KNOW "IRIS" BY THE GOO GOO DOLLS. THAT IS LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE. WAS YOUR BROTHER BORN IN THE 90S??
But this was never meant to be universal. I was upset to discover my sister did not share my astonishment but I put it on Tumblr in case other people shared my feels. I don't think they do :(
It is always fun! Like the moment I realized that my first Johnny's was actually Kinki Kids, introduced to me by my host sister in China in 2000. Whoa~
