Yah I'm the same way with food. I have no idea what to cook, but I'm tired of just throwing on soup and toast. AND I'm the same way with books I've noticed, ahaha. I can fly through Harry Potter or Terry Pratchett's books, but it's taking me forever to get through Atlas Shrugged... ah well...

hehe same about the food... sometimes I feel like I want to cook something, but don't know what. You really need to plan ahead, because you need think of or find a recipe for a dish to make, then make sure you've got all the ingredients, then go and get them if you don't, then spend time making it, and time waiting for it to cook (if necessary)... it's rare just to cook something on the fly unless you do it a lot, and stuff your shelves with ingredients... :)

That's true...and in my non-culinary mind that's a lot of work! But it's necessary to have good, yummy meals...=/

Well, yes, Roald Dahl is a king. His writings are so fabulous! One time I filled out one of those journal surveys, and one of the questions was "If your life story was a book, who would write it?"
I totally picked Roald Dahl.
