Episode Review: 7x05 - Code of Conduct

Oct 21, 2009 23:29

Beware! Tony-centric rambling, ravings, swoonings and squeeings behind the cut, along with 27 poorly cut and coloured caps! tejas, I swear I'm totally re-writing as well. I just got distracted by Tony's nose and hair. Again. ;-)

I always assumed they were to Gibbs first, but after Hiatus I'm not so sure. He stayed, after all. And I can't think of anything offhand, either - I think I just assumed that the reason he stayed longer at NCIS than anywhere else was because he had found something in Gibbs, not the organisation or the lcoation, that he could stay loyal to. And I think that can be supported by the way he was in the first season, at least, the way his faith in Gibbs was possibly a little blinder than it is now. Not blind, really, but definitely a little but more dogmatic. Now, I think his loyalty would run to the team as a whole, first. It has to, I suppose - Gibbs needs someone he knows will stay, and look after his team, and Tony would do that without question, I think - though I'm not sure at the end of Hiatus whether he stays because Gibbs asked/told him to, or because he felt responsible for the team separately to Gibbs' request. IDK! Very interesting, though, I'm definitely going to be thinking about that more!
Yeah, his standing up to Gibbs in ( ... )

Brilliant, I hope you feel a lot better rested! Are you doing anythign special or continuing the lazy day? I love being lazy, especially on my birthday.

I'm going to take some deep breaths and try to relax and just wait until January, because I'm sure my speculation will spiral way out of control otherwise! I think that's the ebst way to look at it, though, to jsut hope that whatever angle they go for, they do it well. But I will still keep my figners secretly crossed for a load of Tony angst, even if they don't actually reveal that much.

I shall mention that to my father, who has yet to turn the central heating on! I'm on top of a hill, just far enough from the sea that we get awesome, deep snow, and it's fairly often icy and freezing! If it hits anywhere between 20 and 25 over here, people walk around topless, it's like a heatwave!

I feel normal again! :-) I'm just continuing the lazy day, I really can't be bothered to do anything else. And hopefully if I'm lazy enough today then I'll be able to study hard tomorrow.

Yeah, I'm going to have to try and forget about it otherwise the wait until January will drive me crazy! The one good sign is that Tony centric episodes have a history of being filled with angst, so I'm sure we'll get some this time.

From Melbourne it's around 4hrs to the snow but I used to live about an hour away from the Australian snow fields which are generally the only places that it snows on a yearly basis. Very rarely it will snow in some of the surrending hills of Melbourne but that almost never happens. Today it was 20 and I've got the electric blanket on and have put on my winter pjs after wearing just a singlet top to bed the last few nights.

LOL, you're mentally preparing for work! I'm just having a minor panic about just when exactly my essay that I totally haven't started is due in. As long as it's not today I should be fine ( ... )

LOL, I was having a mini panic attack yesterday on the way to the exam, about having forgot to bring any pens! Luckily the handbag I was using had one in it. I always leave essays until the last minute. The excuse I use is that I seem to work better if I do it that way. ;-)

Quite possibly, I don't imagine he would be the sort of actor you can get last minute.

It's basically just the mountains high enough to get snow in winter and where people going skiing. We were the opposite, having extreme heat last summer with 40+ days. Luckily I was in New Zealand through the worst of it. You are obviously living in the wrong country. But I don't really recommend moving to Melbourne unless you are able to put with 4 seasons in one day. *g*

Pens are the worst! I always take about ten, which is ridiculous, jsut in case one runs out! I was once so frantic about taking pens to an exam that I forgot to take my house keys and ended up locked outside for about three hours - I also hadn't taken my phone - after it ended! Writing it in stages, weeks before the due date, just means that for me, I lose my flow. That's the story I'm sticking to!

He certainly seems like he'd be in demand, and he's quite a bit older than I thought! I didn't realise, from what you were saying over in the no_tiva comm, that he was portrayed in quite such a negative light in the film. But like you say, he mustn't feel too strongly against MW particualrly for that, or I doubt he'd have signed on ( ... )

I normally chance my luck and only take one or two pens and so far I've never run out. LOL, that would have been annoying! The only other thing that I forgot to take was an Accounting handbook of the standards that we were allowed to take in. Luckily I had enough time to go back home and get it before the exam started. Nice excuse. I may borrow it ( ... )

Luckily mine have all been Lit exams so far, so all I ever needed was my ID and pens!

I have no strong feelings either way on Christopher Walken, but I am feeling more and more that I need to see this movie! I knew he was on the yacht too, but didn't know too many details. MW seems fairly cool about the whole thing, if you've seen his chat transcript! Going to be very interesting. I think I'm a bit sleepy at the moment, I've calmed down a lot after the initial excitement - I may make it through the next two months after all!

There are a lot of people from Greece and Spain on my course, and they are already totally over our weather and having to wear a million layers, LOL! It's not great. Our snow is great! But it turns to mucky slush awfully quickly.

I get this really creepy vibe from Walken. You should definitly watch it. I hope you have better luck at finding a copy than I did. It took me 6 months to find it. But I think there are some copies on ebay at the moment.

Our snow is very icy and hard, which makes it very bad for making snowballs and snowmen.

I've only seen him in a couple of films where I think his character was supposed to be creepy - and he did that act very well, LOL! I'm definitely going to start looking, possibly via some nefarious internet means! I apparently also need to see Her Minor Thing, for extremely attractive MW-ness!

Ice in your eyes is not a good plan! Although I bizarrely prefer harder snow to ski on, mostly because I always lose stuff in powder - skis, gloves, poles, ability!

That could be it but it's mostly his voice that gets me. And his eyes. My usually internet sources didn't have it but they are probably totally diferent to yours. I've seen Her Minor Thing, be prepared for some bad acting and to be reminded of Fratboy!Tony at his worse. But to make up for it he is looks very young and hot and I found myself liking his character more than the character I was supposed to want to get the girl.

I have never skiied so I can't say what it's like to ski on. As kids we always went tobogganing and it's been years since the last time we went.

(just want to add that you need to do a new picspam so we can start a new conversation ;-)

His eyes really are that piercing kind of unsettling. I remember being creeped out by the films I saw him in, but it was more than a couple of years ago so I'll have to re-investigate.

I stand forewarned! It sounds like it might be something I'd be better off watching on mute with some music on. I've gotten through Loving on Youtube with my hands over my mouth and eyes due to embarrassment on his part!

LOL, I'll get right on it! Well, I'll start intensive capping of S2 on Friday and over the weekend - and I need to see 7x06 when I get home tonight, although I'm not sure I'll cap-review. I needed to do it for 7x05 because I was squeeing quite a lot, but as this is a Franks-heavy episode (I've already totally spoiled myself!) there may only be minor snippets of awesome!DiNozzo! ;-) Have you watched it yet?

It's not quite as bad as Loving. Think low budget, late 90s teen movie.

I love season 2 Tony! Very Hot *g*

Yeah, I watched and wasn't overly impressed. I really don't like Franks. There was very little Tony in the ep but he was looking really good in the few scenes he was in. And he wasn't shown as being too stupid either which is always good, although they brought back the slightly racist aspect of his character.

I do love the 90s, it sounds hilariously naff and I'm totally up for that!

He really is gorgeous in S2. And there are loads of episodes I adore from that season! I'm going to be blind from hotness by the time I'm done!

Franks is the character in NCIS I come closest to disliking, which is saying quite a lot because mostly I adore everyone on the show. I like that he's been so important to Gibbs and was ace with him in the past when he joined NCIS - but does he have to reappear every year in ever-more ridiculous scenarios?

Glad Tony was looking good - he certainly looked hot in the preview - and it was him getting blown up, though I have seen no evidence of whump. *pouts* Not sure how I'll feel about the racist angle - it never goes outrageously far, I guess, and it is fairly realistic. I quite liked the way he was goofing around in the preview about the citizenship issue, too, and he's definitely my American Dream. Thought that line was cynically spot on, very Tony!

They should have just left him at Hiatus. We would have learnt a bit more about what makes Gibbs the way he is and that would have been the end of him. The worst part about him appearing is that we get very little of the team because most of the ep is focused on Gibbs and Franks. Although we did get that nice Tony!whumping moment in Faking It because of him which makes it slightly better. ;-)

No really whump after being blown up, although he does comment after that he's not exactly at his best. Maybe a possibility for some fanfic, if anyone was writing any. Where has all the fanfic gone lately? As someone who came from an immigrent background, I'm a little surprised at his attitude. And his ability to be sympathic towards people makes it surprising that he is even slightly racist. In this case I think it was more about annoying Ziva. Oh yeah, he's definitly my American dream as well. *g*

So, I saw the episode! And I have to grudgingly admit that ... I actually kind of liked Franks in it? This is after just one watch, I should say, and I still think he's a total bastard, but he was being so very sweet last night - and funny, too - that I smiled quite a lot and even awwed over his expression at one point. I don't know what's happening, maybe I'm hormonal or just getting even easier to please than normal. I would defintiely, definitely agree about the downside of his appearances being that he and Gibbs wander off together and it stops the show feeling like a show about the team. And I dislike that, although it was nice to see a little more of Gibbs than we have so far this season. As for the plot, I never pay enough attention, but it hung together loosely. Gibbs' talk with Vance at the end took me aback a little - Gibbs, voluntarily being chatty? Wow. But I also loved Vance in the episode, too.

The lack of whump was disappointing (and yeah, I could never really get too annoyed at Franks in Faking It because Gibbs ( ... )
