Question about men

Mar 23, 2006 22:26

Question, regarding male psychology.

Does a man who doesn't otherwise weep in front of people, or show emotions in front of people, weep when he's alone?

I'd say this is the wrong community for that kind of question. Depends on the man. But there are very few people who seriously don't ever cry.

I don't see why her question doesn't belong here. It's broad, yes, but having seen fascinoma's other questions, I know that she comes here when she wants personal experiences and explanations on things she's unsure about.

Her question may seem odd, but it still falls within the community's purpose.

Yep - that's actually when I come here (when I want experiential stuff). The other stuff is usually stuff I can find on Google.

"Maybe"

That's the best answer you're gonna get.

Also remember... if they are stoic and don't cry in front of others, they're not going to admit that they do in private to others.

Maybe they do, maybe they don't. Ultimately, you can be sure that both happen. So pick one.

Or they may be embarrassed to cry in front of others but not too embarrassed to admit that they do cry. I'm that way.

Everyone's an individual.

I agree that it probably depends on the person, but I know for me, I don't really cry very often. Period. I'm not super-macho, I'm actually pretty sensitive myself. But I just don't cry, really. It doesn't matter if I'm in front of people or not, I'm no less likely or more.

I mean, that doesn't necessarily define it for everyone, but that's how it works for me.

If he's afraid to let his emotions out infront of others, yes, but not too often. A lot of guys seem to do this because it goes against the 'masculine image'. Big boys don't cry, I guess. So to do so is a sign of weakness.
But he'll be telling himself this even in private when alone, so when he does let it out, he'll do it bigtime (i.e. 'No! Don't cry! You weak idiot!... oh well, I've started now... might as well get it over with... *bawl*'). :)
