Hiding a girl inside car's under-floor storage bin

Nov 26, 2017 06:31

Hi all. First thing first, I'm new not only to Little Details, but to LJ, and I'm not the brightest when it comes to learning how to post in sites I don't know and the such; so, I'm sorry in advance for any mistake. Also, English is not my first language (in case you couldn't tell already).

When and where: October 2014, Louisiana (USA)

What: Some ( Read more... )

No suggestions apart from an alternative - what about a car roof box? They're common in Britain, don't know about the USA, but they can be big, and I'd say that they don't look inherently suspicious if you add some crap in the car to make it look like a family vacation. The specification for the large size I found was:

200 x 90 x 44cm, 510 litres. Weight 18kg, max load 75kg

which is ample room for a kid with padding - I assume they have her sedated or something - and stuff around the padding such as a tent and other camping junk.

The other possibility is a boat on a trailer. Again, it doesn't look suspicious, you could probably hide someone in it under sails etc., and nobody expects kidnappers to have a boat.

Hope this helps.

I'm sorry to be a wet blanket, but I don't see this working. The cops know where all these storage areas are, and if they are going to search a trunk they are going to search these storage areas too. Once a cop decides to search, and has grounds to search, they do a full search. You are as well sticking your victim in the trunk and just hoping that acting normal and not speeding is enough to keep the cops away.

Depending on how long they need to travel: why not just drug her unconscious (or close to it) and belt her into the seat? So she'll look like a kid sleeping on a long family trip.

Maybe cut and dye her hair first, or put on a wig, add a different jacket-so police won't recognize her either immediately or in retrospect.

It doesn't sound like they have time for hair dye, so a haircut/wig, or even a hoodie. Different clothes go a long way to that too ("last seen wearing [these clothes]").

Louisiana native here!

Okay, so, a couple of things to consider here:
1. That little girl's face is going to be EVERYWHERE. (Ex: Mickey Shunick. When it wasn't known yet whether she was dead or alive and her family was hopeful, everyone in the state knew her name, what she looked like, and was looking for her. She was all over my facebook feed, and a lot of people in Louisiana will share photos of missing children or recently deceased children, depending on the tragedy)
2. It has to be SERIOUS (and definitely not be the work of a white male) before something is labeled a terrorist attack (Ex: The 2015 Lafayette Grand Theatre shooting, and, in general, multiple bomb threats and shootings in various Louisiana cities), so think about how race plays into your story.
3. Are the kidnappers suspected for causing the fire? This will impact the possible police interaction
4. What is the timeframe between the fire starting and when the possible police action occurs? Checkpoints i  Louisiana are usually set up for sobriety tests. You may want to see ( ... )
