Comics Crossovers

Have Batman and Spiderman ever fought?

I know they're from different universes, but DC and Marvel have occasionally done crossovers, so I was wondering if Batman and Spidie had ever met.

Reason I'm asking: Andrew from BtVS is having an argument about who would win in a fight - and, being Andrew, I'm pretty sure he'd know if they'd met.

ETA: Thanks! ( Read more... )

Wiki tells me that they have in this article though it doesn't go into detail at all. I don't know jack about these sorts of things to be honest...

Thanks.

For some reason, my google-fu seemed to skip that one...

According this Spider-man site, they've teamed up twice.

There are rumors of a comic in which this battle takes place - along with, I believe, a battle between Superman and The Hulk - but I personally know no one who has found it or even knows who puts it out. As far as I know, Spiderman and Batman have never actually fought each other. A quick perusal of the comics forums I frequent show nothing but fannish debate on the topic.

The only two places I've found reference to a canonical fight between the two are the Gamespot forums and Comics Answers, the former stating that Spiderman won the fight, the latter claiming Batman did. Both reference a Marvel/DC crossover, but the dates are fuzzy. One puts it at 'some time ago' and one puts it at 'a really long time ago'. Neither were able to provide any further information when asked, such as the title, plot, or any details.

I'm going to say with 99% surety that while they've teamed up together in crossovers, I don't think they've fought.

The classic answer for a Batman vs. anyone fight is, "If Batman has time to prepare, he wins, so let's say he doesn't..." (then continue the argument)

That's exactly it. Knowing his foe and given some time, Batman wins against everyone and everything, no question.

If he's not prepared, he uses one of his prepared contingency tactics to hightail it out of there and start preparing.

In the end, Batman always wins.

Good argument. Mind if I have Andrew use it?

Go for it. It's the standard for Batman. With plans, he wins. Without, he runs and makes plans. Because he's SMART.

There was one case where Ra's al-Ghul got access to the Batcomputer, and found stored therein extensive dossiers on the entire JLA, including contingency plans for taking them down if any members ever went rogue (Superman, go rogue? As if. But that's the point, Batman prepares for EVERYTHING).

Ra's used these plans to single-handedly pwn the entire JLA with minimal effort.

If Batman's PLANS are enough for someone else to hand Superman his ass, then Batman himself can do a much better job.

To this day I am thoroughly convinced that Batman can take down an Omnipotent Omnipresent God Almighty. I'm just not sure he has the plans in place yet.
