In the last update, Kate was left alone to care for infant twins after her fiancé's untimely demise. However, that is only the beginning...only. :P

The twins were a handful, especially since yes, Madden left Kate with a "parting gift" of sorts: she is pregnant again. Needless to say, that didn't make things easier. She became so stressed out, I decided it was time to go out for a bit to relax and look for another mate so a nanny had to be called in.

Hahahahaha seriously?! :P

As Kate approached the newly-refurbished Café of Broken Dreams, a certain ~distinguished gentleman~ (whom I may or may not have created for the purpose of Kate finding love again *) luckily also happened by.

* I felt bad for poor Kate and decided to create her a potential new love interest based on the guy the character she's based on hopelessly pines after...err did that make sense? So I'm a sap when it comes to Sims I like; sue me :P I also didn't cheat to get them to meet, he was a townie like all the rest and just happened to show up.

Anyway, moving on...

Feeling confident even in her heavily pregnant state, Kate boldly approaches the ~distinguished gentleman~

Kate: "Hello there; I don't believe we've met, which given the size of this rock is frankly amazing; I'm Kate."

Distinguished Gentleman (who isn't an elder, just has white hair): "I'm Nolan; pleased to meet you."

Well, that's clear, isn't it?

Kate *thinking*: "Get in mah belleh!"

Er, someone already did, Kate; you know, your recently deceased fiancé, the father of your children?

Zaphod, the friendly neighborhood alien, watches disapprovingly.

Increasingly frequent hunger pangs however drove Kate away from her newfound crush but did she actually buy her own food? Of course not! She stole it from someone else.

Kate: "Hey it's a harsh wasteland out there; survival of the fittest and all that jazz." *nom*

Aaaand guess who else was around?

I am on to you, Sir.

Later that evening, Nolan called. Looking promising so far!

Kate: *guiltily glances down at her engagement ring*

The nanny, who was still there, had that in her action queue. Bragging, huh? Probably about how even she makes a better mother than Kate :P

Unfair; the girl really did her best, considering, and the hard part was only starting. It was toddler-time for the twins, and you know what that means...

They're both blondes with brown eyes like Kate, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover they are *not* identical.

Elliott, post-makeover.

And Jacob.

(Obligatory pottytraining face because seriously, how cute is that?)

Add an an almost idyllic shot of snow falling across the wasteland and you'd think all was going well...

...but appearances are deceiving.

Within the crumbling walls of Megaton Lane, a different story unfolds.

The place is a mess, Kate is a mess, and much too tired to do anything about it.

Things are going from bad...

...to worse.

Even with the reluctant help of Elitist Nanny, Kate barely manages to get enough sleep in order not to die of starvation.

And then, of course, the time came for Baby #3 to come into the world.

Kate: "OH MY GOD EVERYTHING IS A DISASTER AAAAUGGHAUGHAUGH!!!!"

Another boy!

His name is Benjamin, and he inherited Madden's red hair. Woop!

Speaking of Madden, his first haunting coincided with the birth of his third son...which is equal parts fitting and creepy. His eternally-burnt appearance didn't help matters either.

Apparently Ghost!Madden enjoys bubble baths...whereas I don't think he's ever taken one while he was alive.

In the meantime, the overall situation remains just as stressful and the stink of sour milk fills the air at the Murray household...

Kate: "What was that sound? Did a lightbulb short out or something?"

No, that was your fiancé's ghost re-enacting his death in the backyard....

Poor Jacob...so close, and yet so far. :|

As you might have guessed, Kate had no time to pursue any romantic relationships at the moment but when Nolan decided to stop by, she leapt at the opportunity to get away from the insanity that rules her household, if only just for a short time.

Kate: "Just look at me: barely standing, halfway insane and smelling like the toilet at the Prospector Saloon! I can't go on like this!!"

Nolan: "It would be strange if you weren't stressed out, considering. Now come on, let's get some fresh air; you look like you could use it."

So they did, until Kate went back to being a halfway functional Sim. :P

Later...

Kate: "Thank you, for being there. It's been tough, since my fiancé passed away - I really needed the company of someone who wouldn't puke on me or tried to bite my ankles."

Nolan *coughs*: "My pleasure."

Me: Dance my puppets, dance! >:D

It's not often that visitors interact with kids on the lot, but Nolan did and picked Jacob out of his crib. Jacob, however, didn't seem to appreciate it.

Jacob: "You are not my dadeeee!" D:

Nolan: "What's that squishy...oh great. There goes my suit."

Seriously, Jacob was one fussy baby; moreso than his brother, for sure.

And by the looks of it, not the only one who disapproves of Kate dating someone else.

See? Elliot is much better behaved. And he gets along with Nolan.

Much to Ghost!Madden's displeasure.

Nolan: "Truce?"

It was so cute to see him hand Jacob a bottle on his own. And just in the nick of time, because...

Kate: "Oh god, I had the most terrible nightm---eeeeek!"

It's all real, Kate. Every last squirming toddler and stinking bottle.

Oh yeah he's still doing rounds. Fritz is nothing if not patient...and persistent.

Fritz: "Someday...soon."

Then it was finally time for the twins to grow up which let me tell you was one of the most anticipated Sim birthdays ever. Juggling 3 kids and a household was HARD.

Nobody learned walking/talking/pottytraining but they all grew up well and with a couple of skills - I call that a success!

Made-over Jacob...

And Elliot, eyeing his food suspiciously.

Elliot: "Is this safe to eat?"

Sure; a little fallout never killed anyone. :P

After getting her first good night's sleep in weeks, Kate and Nolan finally made things "official" and sealed it with a kiss.

As well as moved in together. Here's to the hope that it will go better for Kate this time!

They certainly wasted no time there, not at all.

Later...

Remember Ishmael? The dude who looked suspiciously gleeful over Madden's electrocution?

He's Kate's only best friend, and he dropped by that evening...then proceeded to do this:

Kate: "Uhhh, dude? What the hell...what are you doing?"

Ishmael: "What I should've done long ago. Kate, I..."

Kate: "Whoa whoa whoa! I like you, Ishmael and we're friends...but that's all. I'm sorry. Besides, I met someone."

Ishmael: *crushed*

Ohhh if looks could kill...

And yup all of this happened autonomously, courtesy of ACR. Oh how I love that hack :D

Benjamin's birthday was also coming up - what does he look like? Find out next time ;)
