indecisive & fickle - help?

I've always wanted a tattoo. I'd like to get a quote, a nice block of text or a few lines of something beautiful, but, unfortunately, I'm the sort of person who's always changing her mind, always finding something I like a little better than the last thing. So a quote's a bad idea. I figure, though, that something a little more general might be ( Read more... )

Get the one book like you were thinking and add a couple of interesting bookends on either side of it?

Ohh, interesting idea. Now I can try and look up a bunch of kick-ass bookends, haha.

Because I'm really fickle, like I said. I wouldn't be able to decide on just one book or just one character... or I'd decide on one, and then come across something I like even better and I've already used up that space and dedicated a part of my body to something that doesn't mean as much to me anymore.

I think the best thing to do would be find a recommended tattoo artist and then tell them all the above .. It's part of their job to help you design what you want ..

And as for it 'hurting like a bitch' - you've never been tattooed before so how could you possibly say that? Not everyone feels 'pain' when under the needle, not even over bony areas like spine & feet (speaking from experience of both!) .. So all you're doing by saying that is setting yourself up to feel nervous and talking yourself into feeling something that may never be, and all before you've even got a fixed idea in mind ..

Well, honestly, the pain is less of a deterrent than the plainness of the idea. If I was really, really gung-ho and in love with the concept, I'd get it regardless of how much I think it would hurt. The 'hurt like a bitch' bit was only half-serious, although I AM a huge baby about pain (having never really been in pain).

Then that's what you need to wait for - the design that has you all fired up and screaming "yeah let do this thing" .. maybe that's why I never feel any pain - I love the sensation and watching my ideas come to reality before my eyes ..

Find an artist, and I'm sure what you have shared above will be enough for them to go on and give great results - don't forget to show us!

If you're indecisive and fickle, don't get a tattoo.

This. It's gonna be on your body forever. If you're going to change your mind about it in a month, you probably shouldn't do it.

I like the book and bookends idea, but I'd get that in your 'tramp stamp' area to make sure you don't monopolize other space on your back.
