LOL! River is spot on! Trying to make new ruts is painful but at least Mal is trying.

And LMAO at Jayne being the voice of reason here. At least he knows what he wants and is cool with it.

Yep, and Mal is hurting more than most. I love Mal, but he does seem like the sort to be set in his ways. Jayne, on the other hand, does what feels good at the time. Of course, that means he doesn't think often, but I never claimed he was perfect.

It looks like some things got cleared up. But it seems like Mal is telling Jayne that he won't reciprocate in any way, ever. That seems pretty unfair if he won't even give Jayne a hand now and then.

Mmmm. Good stuff. catservant66 June 15 2011, 02:48:59 UTC
Weren't so sure of Mal's internal voice, at first, but it sure do grow on a fella. Although that sentence is more like Jayne, isn't it...

Thank you for giving this muse a chance to grow. I'm really enjoying this.

I like Mal's voice... all bravado hiding a good chunk of stupidity with a lot of good intentions thrown in. He's a good character. I'm glad you're enjoying it.

I love Jayne in this but he seems to get the short end of the stick. Perhaps Mal needs to talk to Blair about what Mal can do that would make Jayne happy.
I did like Mal's thought processes in the beginning of the story -- can't space Captain Jimmy because Mal might inherit Blair. Why are all the Firefly doctors annoying central core people? Why can't he get a nice easy going country doctor?

Jayne is, and sadly, the short end is longer than most of the sticks he's had in his life, so he's not likely to complain about it. HOwever, we'll have to see how long Mal's stubborn streak lasts.

I love how practical Jayne is in this story - right to the point. But I'm glad he's willing to stand up for himself when it comes to being open about their relationship. I feel sorry for poor Mal. River's right, laying down new ruts can be painful. But it looks like he's finally figuring out a few things about Jayne that he's needed to understand for a while. Hopefully, once he gets more comfortable with Jayne and their relationship, his panic over Jayne's cock will calm as well, 'cause he's right, things are just a bit one-sided at the moment. (I'm with Mal, the image of Jayne on his knees at Mal's feet is a very sweet one. *g*)

Jayne is nothing if not a practical man. Buying a wife? Fine. Hey, it solves a lot of trouble. Shooting someone? No problem, just tell him who to shoot. He's as uncomplicated as you get, and Mal is going to have to learn to deal with that.
