It looks like some things got cleared up. But it seems like Mal is telling Jayne that he won't reciprocate in any way, ever. That seems pretty unfair if he won't even give Jayne a hand now and then.

I think Mal is struggling with this more than most, and unlike Jayne, he won't put his confusion out there for everyone to see. That means, it's not getting cleared up as fast.
