I waited until this was done to read it, and I enjoyed it very much despite knowing nothing about Mag7 except what I have read in another couple of crossovers. There's clearly a lot of potential here for more if you felt so inclined!
I'm glad you enjoyed it, even without the background. My complaint with M7 is that there are so damn many characters. I tried to introduce them one at a time.
Part of Jim may want to reconnect with his mother, but his feelings are tangled at best. And I do think that given some time, Ezra and Jim might actually like each other.
Well, I started this out of curiosity and now I want more, despite never having seen either of the series it is crossing-over. It stands up very well as an independent story in its own right, and the characters are so well drawn that they do not need any external background.

Now, that's the Jim that we know and love.
I enjoyed this rather a lot, and I live in hope that Ezra and Jim might develop a more 'brotherly' relationship in the future.
