Another chapter how great!. Now when Vovka uses that word what is a soothsayer? It can't be a seer or an oracle since Xander doesn't see the future. It isn't a shaman -- no otherworldly trips. Not hand reading or crystal ball, so what is Xander the soothsayer?

'xactly the question I wanted to ask! I went off and looked up the definition of 'soothsayer' but it comes back as seer or prophet. I don't *think* it's a talent we've seen Xander display yet so I'm looking forward to seeing how you develop it! :-)

Sooth = truth
sayer = speaker

So that would mean that Xander doesn't see the future--he sees the present as it really is.

Oh, finally Willow gets taken down a peg! She's been driving me up a wall. And when will Xander step in and defend his decision to invite Riley back to town? Because he's mostly just quiet whenever Buffy goes off on Riley, and I think it's time he laid a little "sooth" on General Buffy about personnel issues.

Willow really did get a talking to, that's for sure. And I don't think Xander ever will "defend" himself. He knows he did the right thing, and that's all that matters to him. Like with the zombies, he doesn't feel a need to tell others.

"Good lord. I'm in hell and trapped in this same conversation for eternity." Giles LOL. I can so see and hear ASH saying that line.

Yay for your version of the yellow crayon speech

What with the hyena!primal and the soldier once in him, Xander has had his moments. I also wonder if there was anything residual from the Sweet spell that began this AU so was he born a soothsayer or did he develop this unknowingly (now I keep hearing bits of dialogue from "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" *g*)?

You're on a roll again - will we get another chapter for Columbus Day? (if not that's ok too).

Shakatany

PS a couple of errors: Her and Tara sat on the edge of Xander's bed with Buffy and Giles both acting like a big old roadblock. She and Tara

and which demon bits fell of which demon, off

Two more things:

Is Riley married or still married in this fic (can't remember)

With all this talk of Sumerian, in canon, Dawn all of a sudden was good with it (the ep. with the shadowmen) which I attributed to her Keyness. I guess with Dawn out of the house that won't come out.

Riley is married, but he's trying to play nice with Buffy, which means leaving the wife at home.

And "Sumerian" is code for "ethics" which Willow is short of.

I'm so glad you enjoyed Giles here. Because the spell brought out people's true natures, I did want to give a shout-out to the man he was in earlier seasons. And yes, you already got a chapter for Columbus day. You know how I get when I'm close to an end.

Is there such a thing as a "fic-gasm"?

Off to read, now. (Hums happily)
