UGH I am so behind on my life but let's start with this.

I shot a ballet on Thursday and oh my god. It was among the happiest and most fulfilled I've ever been. I had the most amazing time. And the director was so nice, and the ballet itself was SO much fun, they had a number to Paparazzi where they had bags over their heads, water wings, and ( Read more... )

this is so beautiful. I kinda envy you because I'm in love with photography but I have never studied at all. Have you? What are you working on right now?

I haven't, actually. I took a photography class in high school but that's about it. It's strange because i didn't really go out looking for photography - it sort of found me? I was at a dance competition just as a spectator and one of the girls on my old team came up into the bleachers and was like, "Liss, do you want to take pictures? My mom doesn't know how to work our new camera!" So I took it and then she just sort of kept bringing it to me whenever I was there. They asked me back next season as their photographer, started asking me to come backstage and things. I got my own camera when I got on the movie, the director saw my photos on facebook and asked if I'd want to do on-set stills for him. And then I met a bunch of people there who keep asking me to do stuff so yeah, it was just one thing leads to another, I guess ( ... )

ARGH THOSE ARE GORGEOUS. I wish you lived nearby; I could so use a photographer for our dance performances. I've been taking photos, and I'm so bad at it. :/

You are such a talented free bitch. I can't even with you sometimes. I am looking forward to a Photography book in the future, just sayin'. I think you photograph like someone who has Synesthesia, like there's a sort of automatic cross-sensory stimulation... What am I even saying. lol

I DO have synesthesia!! ♥!! I haven't talked about it yet because it freaked me out to know the way I operated wasn't normal. But it's on my list of things to blog about!

Of course you would, uncommon normal is boring. I've only noticed/suspected recently when I was rewatching some of your vids. Looking forward to that blog, it's so fascinating to me, ah jealous now.

My GOD, these are beyond words. Was it hard to adjust to the lighting? Because it honestly looks like you designed it yourself in order for it to work with your pictures. I don't easily tell people they're talented (because ugh, people overuse the term to the point that I can't even appreciate certain artists' work anymore because they're so overstated and it bugs) but I think you're a natural. I really look forward to that spam!

I don't think I ever asked: why did you quit dancing anyway?

The lighting was good but I also had to design my camera to work with IT, you know? I had to have a higher ISO and a slower shutter speed than I would have liked, but all in all, it was great. Here's one completely untouched (save for shrinking because imageshack is a bitch) -

I see what you mean with the ISO, that kind of sucks. I do love that picture though. The motion blur at the hem of her dress is ♥. Funny how her dress casts a shadow that looks like a side profile.
