Fandom Car - yes, totally. That's such a great way to put it. I'm a one-fandom girl, too, in that I can only 'obsess' about one at a time. I can enjoy a handful of others, but I can't flail in-depth about more than one at the same time. It's like dating - I can't date multiple people at the same time, it has to be serial. I guess it's because when you really fan a show, you're entering into a relationship with these people ('these people' meaning the characters, and sometimes the creatives behind it too), and if you're the type who's inclined to give a relationship all of your best attention, you can't split that effectively without shortchanging someone.
In a film class once, our professor told a story about some regular guy who just walked right into an English palace.
Was it this story? If so - yep, they're filming it. Granted, for TV, but still.
