I left work at noon today. I can't believe they asked me to come in, tbh. Well I CAN but I could have told them that I would have had NOTHING TO DO ANYWAY because all of the other admins and brokers got to sleep in. Lame. There was shit I COULD have done but let's be honest here, no. I spent part of the morning stuffing our ~carnival boxes~ with ( Read more... )

Psst, you really shouldn't link to "Clients from Hell" in the first paragraph if you want anybody to continue reading your entry! I just couldn't stop laughing. Yeah, I feel like I've met about 70% of those customers, too.

What, sorry if I'm stupid, but how does that training for lucid dreaming work?

HAHA, I know! It blows my mind 1.) how clueless people are, and 2.) how true it all is!

Basically the theory is that if you train yourself to constantly be aware of your surroundings and check to make sure everything is "normal", that you'll start doing that in your dreams too, just as a habit, and will notice when things don't make sense, alerting you to the fact that you're dreaming. Like if I'm at work and I think to check I'll see that the clock says 1:30pm. This is normal. If I'm dreaming that I'm at work and look at the clock in my dream and see that it says 10:00 pm I'll know something's up because that's never an hour where I'd be in the office. Does that make sense? I don't know if it even works yet but I've read before that it does!

Ah, now I get it. It's a strange concept to me, though, because I'm actually always aware that I'm dreaming. It's like there are two streams of consciousness in my dreams: the me that is experiencing whatever it is I dream about and the other me that is aware it's a dream and makes fun of the ridiculousness. Depending on the kind of dream I can actually balance those two quite well. If I have pleasant dreams I want to enjoy fully, the "aware me" gets beaten into submission until it shuts up, but if I have nightmares it's quite efficient in waking me up before things get too bad. I always thought that was weird, though.

Hm, I wonder if your method works, too. For example, what happens if you don't "wear" your star in your dreams? Would your subconsciousness still realize that something is missing or would you just dream on without said reminder of a reality check?
