Manly traits get stereotyped as:
Agression
Stoicism
Protectiveness
Breadwinning (breadwinner)

Female traits get stereotyped as:
Emotional
Nurturing
In need of protection
Passivity

I hope that things are changing. Those are some rather old-fashioned stereotypes, but they are still with us. I'm hoping that the future has more room in it for nurturing males, and agressive females, and people who have some of each set.

But aren't some of those traits hard-wired? Nurturing, for one, or aggression.

And aren't some of the others attractive? We look for partners of the opposite sex, some of us, who have those traits.

You asked for lists an stereotypes.

And some aggression is hardwired. Testosterone does that. But different people have different levels of it, and there are less aggressive men out there. Nurturing may or may not be hardwired, in my opinion. I don't have the patience or the "must nurture this screaming child" instincts that I think I'd need to be a parent.
