A few months ago, *someone male* was going around asking people "so, why do we (males) put up with them (girls)?" I gave him my answer, which no-one else I've met appears to agree with, but it got me thinking, so here's my response question.
All right, already:
Why do we (female people) put up with you/them (malepeople)?

As for why... I think a Good answer for either way is because often, the good outweighs the bad. Normally when the question above is being asked in either direction it's due to a recent hurt or frustration when dealing with the opposite sex.
On a silly note... Because men rule and women drool! *crushes beer can on head while wearing a letterman jacket*

Why do we seem to need each other?

Need for reproduction, extension of the race.
If people weren't willing to put up with the opposite sex for long enough to mate (and in our case, being the naturally monogamous creatures... not that this holds all the time, the need for a healthy relationship to raise the children), then the race would die out and become extinct.

In all actuality though, aside from the biological urges, and the "parts line up" excuse, I would propose that it's because men and women are different, because they are annoying to each other, because it causes the question "why do 'we' put up with 'them'?" Opposites attract, and what's more opposite then a man and woman that can yet be kosher so as to be considered an acceptable sort of relationship, no matter what that relationship may be. Men don't understand women, women don't understand men, and I don't understand the whole lot of you, which is what makes it all so very interesting.
