I'm beginning to doubt the wisdom of weighing myself every day. It's hard not to be bummed when you start at 171.6, drop down to 170.6, and then are up to 171.4 the next day. I know, I know, so many factors, yadda, yadda, yadda, running average, blah blah. But I can't shake the conviction that I'm defective and I'm going to be the only person ever ( Read more... )

My mother was a HUGE Twin Peaks fan for a lot of the reasons you've cited here-- particularly because of the "how the story isn't about who killed Laura, but what Laura's death meant for the rest of the town." She was also very disappointed by the ending (and the CANCELLATION). But she told me they were abruptly canceled and didn't mean to end things there; they were just desperate for some way, any way, to wrap it up.

Yeah, I've managed to rationalize it through the "suddenly canceled" defense. Although I have to wonder how Lynch would have finished it if he had the time and money. I'm kind of curious why he didn't years later, given the original popularity of the series. Maybe he didn't know how it ended, either ;)

I don't know if daily weigh-ins are part of the South Beach plan, but I usually prefer weekly weigh-ins. Dailies make my progress seem to creep at a snail's pace, esp. with natural fluctuations.

Also, it's only been three days. ::hug:: I'd be worried if you were showing large weight reductions that fast.

Good god, yes. While I preferred South Beach out of all the diets I tried....don't do daily weigh ins. You'll torture yourself. Weekly IF YOU MUST. Otherwise, just go with the flow and follow the drill.

As long as you're doing what it says and not trying to skimp here and there and checking the scale to see how much damage said straying did (which will also just mess with you) my advice is to eat what they suggest, do the exercise and leave enough time to surprise yourself a bit.

Can I point you at Elisabeth of Bavaria, Sissy who was Ludwig's cousin and in her own way was quite as barking as he was.

She is an awesome character. Died after being stabbed and her corset acted as a tourniquet

sorry being stopped typing more by c at

Haha, sounds like another awesome character. In the infamous words of the person who played Gladstone in our run of 1897. "Hmph! Hapsburgs!"

yeah yeah, not truly Hapsburgs, but the point stands.

I guess England got the hemophilia, and Bavaria got the crazy? Incest is bad, kids!

I agree with the Weekly weigh-ins folks...and it's actually pretty normal for your weight to fluctuate that pound or so on a daily basis...goodness knows mine does. Good for you for eating better in the new year. My goal is to do at least 5 minutes of concerted excercise a day.
