The Goat

I love end of the year traditions and this time I have a short video I made of The Goat dance tradition. It's a very old Romanian tradition and I would guess it's pre-Christian as origin. Sorry, I didn't realize Instagram came with restrictions. I re-uploaded the little video on Youtube and edited the post.

Thanks! Oh wow, I'm glad I didn't see a goat die, but saw a dance that's all about fertility and prosperity (not even knowing the back-story, that's how I'd have understood it). Thanks for uploading! :)

This more 'urban' version only focuses on the last part of The Goat ritual, after "the goat" comes back to life and the chanting is about well-wishes for the new year. These two goats really liked to shake their asses - lol
