cat shot

Nov 04, 2008 21:08

I've just been through a totally traumatic experience that left me still shaking. You, cat people out there will understand me. (Who doesn't have pets is allowed - and justified - to think I am crazy.) I had the vet over to give my cats their shots. They both knew something bad was to happen and they both hid. First I extracted Lisa from her hiding ( Read more... )

Yes,it made me feel horrible. Poor cat, how scared she must have been... And I was worried about trust issues too. But after a while she came out from under the bed (with Lisa) and she sat on my computer again. She's not her usual joyous and naughty self, but she is almost OK.

First thought: OMG! Who shot your cat? *wipes sweat*

But still, it's horrible. Maybe something bad happened to her before you took her in, what she remembered in that very moment.

Hehe, right. Nobody shot the cats. They just got their vaccination. The stuff you do twice a year. I don't know exactly what is it.

Meli made me feel so guilty for scaring her like this... Next time I'll give her a calming pill before calling the vet.

I can understand why it left you shaking! When cats get very upset it can be really unnerving. Poor Meli! I wonder why she got so upset this time? Lisa was being protective of her, that's sweet.

Lisa is always a bit protective with Meli, allowing her all kinds of things, like draw her into a chase around the house or jumping over her. I remember at one time I stepped on Meli's paw (not too bad, but you know how horrible the feeling is) and Meli screamed, Lisa came up right away to see what was happening. But this is the first time she became aggressive. And it happened because she thought we were killing Meli or something.

I sympathize! Vet appointment time is always high drama at our house, I dread it like crazy. They get over it fast though, I wouldn't worry. :)

They got over it. I sorta expected Meli to hate me for weeks, but she came to sleep in my bed too. She even bit me this morning and pulled on my stockings - and that's normal behaviour.

Wow, poor kitties. I'm glad I've never had to be in the room when my kitty gets her shots. It's like they know when they're going to the vet, too. Some sort of pet psychic ability.

Yes, I agree with the special vet detection psychic ability. Unfortunately, there's nobody else capable of handling the cats and restrain them for their shots, so I have to do it.

When we got Cheetah from the Humane Society, she was declawed by her previous owners, so our vets don't have to worry. But we do. She's 13 pounds of pure evil and hatred, unless she wants you to feed her. And for a cat so fat and orange, I'm always amazed by how well she hides when it's vet time.

haha - none of my cats is mean by nature. Lisa is an angel of a cat. Meli is naughty (she's still a kitty) but very affectionate.
