It left me very bitter that my greedy ex wouldn't even part with one of the three Royal Doulton dinner services his mother gave us (and one of those was a wedding present). So it's been a long while coming, but I finally went and bought my own bone china - not RD, but Noritake - what can I say? I live in Japan and I think they're just as good. I ( Read more... )

Glad you like it! I think it's very elegant too.

Oh the dinner party was fun, but it has taught me never to involve a (male) chef in the proceedings! One of my guests basically took over and he ended up curdling my chocolate mousse! LOL! Luckily I had only used half the quantities tht I'd bought, so I could make it again - and I didn't let him near it!

Hmmmm. I'm more of a Beenie-Weenie kind of entertainer. Kind of hard to mess those up. :-)

Oh, very elegant and simple (the best), cutlery sounds the same. I find the older I get, the simpler and cleaner I want things.

And, Oy, greedy exes - let's don't start. Here's to many more dinner parties!

Ooohhh...lovely! It's very simple and very, very elegant. I like it a lot. :) I also have Noritake china, and I'm sure that you'll be very happy with it. :) Hope your dinner party was everything you wanted it to be.

Oooh, very nice. I love that kind of simple pattern. Always in style. Our china is very similar.

Thanks! Yeah, you can't go wrong with simple patterns - they are timeless. What's the company and design of yours?

We've got a Maxwell Williams bone china, with just the single gold plating. I got that cause it was a lot cheaper than the other sets and we didn't want something we were afraid to use. Plus there were heaps of accessories available.

Sorry for the late reply. LJ is not sending me all replies lately. *shakes fist at LJ*

I didn't know MW as a brand, but I just checked out their Aus. website. They looks reasonably priced and seem to have many dinner sets of basic white with very subtle designs to embellish. Nice!

Yeah, I think so too! *g*

I know, it's kind of a weird thing with china - I wasn't into it in my youth and then I just had so much nice stuff through the ex that I kind of became picky and started looking under plates to see brands and designs and such!

Roll on wealthy times. I'd love to know what you choose when you finally do get it
