I can't help myself ...

You know how once you let something go (as in publish it?) you then feel relaxed enough to play with it ... and sometimes when you do that, the results are better, or at least pleasingly different? ... Yes, I lost the neural interface that was integral to the fic but I played around spiking Sheppard's hair which is always waaay satisfying!! Here ( Read more... )

Oh, these are both gorgeous. I love the colours you've used and the layering effect with the background. cep xxx

Thank you cep! I'm glad you liked the colours. I thought they were much better in this second "tinkered" piece - the rusts seem to bring more life to it and it feels more emotional, overall.

The layered background took AGES! but it was great making something like that ... for the first time.

I'm always so impressed with artwork like this, not in the least because I have absolutely no patience when it comes to all the tiny details to which you must have to attend to get this right. Of the two, I do think I prefer your second one - you're right, the rust colour does deepen the impact of the piece - but they are both beautiful! I also adore the layering effect - time well spent!! *hugs* cep xxx

*beams* Thank you! I have been learning, or at least trying to! I see some amazing work and I think ..."How the HELL did they MAKE that?" So this background pastiche is a result of at least some thinking about that, so it pleases me beyond belief that you like the tiny details - but just as an aside *wink wink* - this John doesn't have the pink petal-eyeliner that was in the first graphic and that was something I couldn't work out how to reproduce (heh!) ~ not that's it's significant or anything but I was just attached to that effect *g* so there are some things lost in this one that might for the story, resonate.

But that's just me being precious! LOL! I'm SO glad you liked it *hugs*

OOOH, I think I like this one even better. The rust makes a nice contrast and I like the image of McKay floating above John's head, with him looking up at it. Very nice!

*beams* Thank you! I'm really glad you like it. Yeah, there are a lot of things I like better about this one, and the rust is one of them - also John's hair is WILDER! LOL! Always a good thing, IMO! If only because Rodney can bitch about it (in all affection) more!

The John cap (and mostly because of his eye direction) was chosen to match with a certain scene in Indelible - he was using his peripheral vision at the time and while Rodney was standing, John was "lower" in that same scene, so I'm really happy you picked up on that spatial relationship.

Thank you again!

Just put Indelible on the 'read' list tonight. Am looking forward to coming home from work, kicking back and enjoying the evening!

It's a definite "to read" one! Have fun with it! I think you'll like the characterization - not fluffy, but the love is there underlying ...

I think this one is gorgeous, too. I get what you mean about the blue of the interface, but I still think it's absolutely beautiful. I so wish I had the skill/patience/artistic ability(software, lol) to compile digital graphics. They're some of my favorite kinds of artwork, so intricate and interesting, and this one is just as lovely as the other that you made. *envies your skills*

Thank you! It turned out quite different and I liked the variation.

I just love playing around in Photoshop - it's such a great way to try and express some creativity. I'm hopeless at writing, so I envy YOUR very well honed skills! Indelible was a fabulous read!

Finally I got around to comment on this. I saw the previous one, too, and I've been staring at it for ages, trying to find out how you made the 3d effect. (I couldn't figure out, but then again, I probably wouldn't have the patience to try to do something like this.) It's amazing! It absolutely evokes the mood of the fic with the colours and the feeling like you'd be in the interface yourself. I share your enthusiasm about this fic. :-) And seriously, fantastic artwork.

Oh I'm really glad you like it! I'm not sure how the whole piece came together either, to create that effect, LOL! I'm glad I could get across the mood of the fic for you! Thank you!
