A rare political post from me

Very few things get me riled up enough to post about politics. Sure, I have opinions and I know why I vote for who I vote for, but I don't really like to talk about politics. I don't find it interesting, I'm not very good with debate, and I don't actually know a whole lot so I tend to just shut up about it ( Read more... )

I can't stand when people take a stance merely based on political party and taking down the other side. This is why I vote third party in every election.

Yeah... It's like once a person has chosen a party to affiliate with, it doesn't even matter what the candidate stands for. It's pathetic, really.

What is also pathetic is how campaigning turns into "Here's why my opponent sucks, vote for me!" instead of "Here's what I stand for, vote for me!" I can't stand all the shit-throwing, I tend to avoid the news around election times and find out what each person stands for on my own. I wish more people would do that...

Well-said. :) I replied a time or two to that pic now that it's pretty viral on FB, and I posted my own similar rebuttal on my FB wall for those who might care. But yeah, it's just another misdirection and distraction. The economy IS improving, slowly, with no thanks whatsoever to the obstructionist GOP--that's why all they can focus on lately is the Catholic birth control thing, rising gas prices, and the perennial favorites of abortion and gay rights ( ... )

I'm pretty much on the same page with all of this... I guess I'm not a huge fan of Obama, either - though in saying that, I really must say I'm not a huge "fan" of any politician because they ALL lie and do things that make people mad, etc. It's the nature of being a politician, and I'm not blind to that. But, I also can't ignore the things he has done (or the things he hasn't done) and I really just have to compare that to what else is available... and every one of the republican hopefuls make me cringe.

I really do hope that someday, a third-party candidate has a realistic chance, but sadly I don't expect that to happen anytime soon. :(
