The bartender is a happy, cheerful fellow who doesn't question the age of his drinkers and doesn't know why he's being asked to mix mysteriously red liquid with his collection of alcohol.

He also has food. Both dead and alive. Just ask if you want a little more jump to your meal. 8)

"Unrequitedish," Haine said, flapping a hand. "How are you, really?" he asked, leaning heavily against the bar.

Edward found Matt's blond-haired friend at the bar, looking rather smug at the world. He hadn't seen Matt yet, but he had a distinct feeling that it might have been because the gamer had snuck off to the Aston Martin when no one was looking.

He approached Mello with a smile. He hadn't seen him since Matt's birthday.

"Mello. It's been a while."

Mello blinked and then dredged up a memory he had almost forgot about. Matt hula dancing. He threw in a wedding dress. It took a moment to truly picture it in all it's horrendous imagery but he felt it was the best gift he could give.

"Edward. Just a bit. Keeping busy?"

He smiled sweetly.

The image flashed clearly into Edward's mind at once and he had to choke back the laughter that threatened to spill over.

"As busy as I can be. College orientations. Rogue vampires. Wedding plans. And you?"

"Sounds vaguely thrilling." Mello raised an eyebrow "Oh, lazy as fucking always. Soaking up the culture in Egypt. I almost embarked on a career as a harem girl. Nothing exciting."

He cleared his throat "So. How's the bride to be?"

"A harem girl, you say? I hear they have quite the uniform," Edward replied, lips twisting up in a quirky smile. "How did that venture turn out?"

The slight smile turned into a sheepish grin.

"Nervous, I think."

"Oh it's devastating. All bells and belly buttons." He wrinkled his nose in mock disgust "Fucking crazy. The blokes seem to be made entirely out of lard."

"Yeah? Word of advice. If she beats you, there is a hotline." Mello kept his expression serious.

"I don't know. That look's quite attractive on certain people. We could poll the club to see how well your career could have worked out," Edward grinned, gesturing at the club at large.

"If she attempts to, there will be a hospital nearby to patch up her broken wrists."

Mello laughed "I think we all know I would have been the most fucking amazing harem girl who ever belly danced."

He nodded serenely "Good thing, too. I also hear those new brides are insatiable."

"And you would deprive the world of that? Why Mello, I'm appalled," Edward laughed in return at the mental image. It was almost as priceless as that of Matt in a hula skirt.

Although he nearly choked at the second comment.

"What?"

"I know, I'm a beast." Mello fluttered his eyelashes mockingly.

A slow smile spread across his face.

"You know, absolutely insatiable. They want it all the time. Every hour on the hour. It's like a switch. If they've waited until they're married then they want their monies worth. Up to it?"

Any retort that Edward had to the previous line of comments died with the second, more disturbing set.

"And you know this from experience, I'm sure."

Mello nodded again, expression blank.

"Vaguely. It wasn't a wedding but an extended courtship. Drooling for it. You've got your work cut out for you."

He contemplated fluttering his eyelashes again.

Edward shook his head and sighed. The people he seemed to be surrounded by. Really now.

"And how did that work out for the poor girl? ... or guy?"

"Sex overload. Very tragic." He nodded solemnly.
