Chocolate fundraiser for Haiti relief

Jan 14, 2010 17:17

Since I can't follow the lead of my officemate in helping directly with Haiti relief through ham radio work, I'm instead going to put my other talents to work. This weekend (and after, if demand is unexpectedly high) I will be making chocolates that you, your friends, your neighbors, and all other interested parties can buy. All proceeds-- not ( Read more... )

My god, woman! I <3 your chocolate!!! Let me know when you have the final production list; I'll be interested in probably most of it. :o)

If other people throw in requests, I'd be interested in any of the following:
- Pondicherry (and/or Black Thai)
- Sultana
- Snow Falls on Cherry Trees
- any tea-based truffle

But really, I <3 it all. Mmmmmmmm...

Production list is now a bit closer to finished. How many would you like of each, so I have a rough estimate to aim for?

Oh, I'm such a fat kid salivating at a computer screen. :o)

I'll do 12 bars -
- 2 each of Pondicherry, Black Thai, Sultana, Kulfi, Lancaster
- 1 each of Snow Falls and Holiday Spice
Plus a sampler size of earl grey truffles. If you end up making any of the wild experimental ones, please feel free to knock some of the earl grey out. :o)

What a great idea. I've donated through Yele, which exists to focus on Haiti and only Haiti, unlike bigger orgs. I also second Jade's recommendation for DWB/MSF.

I'd like a .5lb sampler of whatever truffle flavors you are making (although I would like to put in a request that Wintry Mix or Black Fire (or both!) be among the flavors made). Also, I'd love to try one each of the kulfi and ginger cardamom bars, and if you end up making any Holiday Spice bars, one of those too.

Also, Partners in Health has a well-established flagship clinic in Haiti. They have low overhead, and already have medical workers on the ground who are familiar with the community.

Seconding Partners in Health, which several people I know who work with the Haitian community in Boston recommended.

I would like $10 of truffles (I think that's 40) and $10 worth of bars, which seems to be 4.

Any flavor that is *not* white chocolate is fine for me. My preference would be Black Thai for the bars, and Earl Grey for the truffles, but I care more about handing you money than I do about getting those specific flavors.

Right now, I have you down for 4 black thai bars and an ungodly number of Earl Grey truffles. (From now on, I'm going to have to not offer loose cheap truffles in mail orders. ;) ) Would you like some of those swapped out for Raspberry, Burnt Orange, or Classic European?

Would you prefer your sampler all dark chocolate flavors (raspberry, earl grey, and classic european) or mostly dark with only a few burnt orange and wintry mix?
