Chocolate fundraiser for Haiti relief

Jan 14, 2010 17:17

Since I can't follow the lead of my officemate in helping directly with Haiti relief through ham radio work, I'm instead going to put my other talents to work. This weekend (and after, if demand is unexpectedly high) I will be making chocolates that you, your friends, your neighbors, and all other interested parties can buy. All proceeds-- not ( Read more... )

Can I pass this information on, or would that be overwhelming?

Please do. If I end up actually being overwhelmed, I'll post that the offer is closed.

Also, please feel free to pass it along outside of the LJ context; replace contact info with the chocolatesbyariel stuff.

Great! How would you like to arrange for pickup?

I'll be on campus tomorrow evening starting at 7:30-9 in 8-205, and will also be around/have someone who can do dropoffs every evening through next weekend except Tuesday, probably starting around 7. (Weekends will be earlier, although that may or may not be useful to you.) Let me know if there's a particular time that would be good?

Two sampler boxes of truffles, please!

You got it. One of each flavor in each box, I assume?

And how would you like to arrange the pickup?

One of each flavor, put in whatever flavors you choose. (I meant two $5 sampler boxes, in case that wasn't clear.)

I am happy to pick up at your house (I assume somewhere in greater cambridge/somerville?). I am leaving for Croatia on 2/5 and would be happy to get these in time to give to some Croatians (um, sorry, did I just say I planned to export your chocolates? er, nevermind.) Otherwise we'll have to pick them up and eat them ourselves when we back. :)

I'm out in Waltham; if you'd like us to drop them off on our way around greater camberville on Saturday, that would also work, although I don't know where you live. Or you can pick them up from us in the evenings at MIT if that's more convenient.

Ooh, I did send money earlier, but if I join this fundraiser, both fundraised money and incoming chocolate go up, which are both good things.

Um, one Ginger Cardamom bar, one Snow on Cherry Trees bar, and one pound of randomized truffles! (I vote for Burnt Orange as another flavor, but I will be happy with anything).

You got it! How would you like to arrange pickup? Waltham, Bedford, or MIT?

MIT is good; I'm in N42 all day but can go to arbitrary other places as needed. :)

Unfortunately, I'm there in the evenings; I'll be on campus 7:30-9 tomorrow in 8-205 if that works, and will have someone around to do transfers every evening except Tuesday through next weekend. What's a good time for you?

I would happily buy a pound of assorted bars. Of the ones you'd listed here, any of the darks or whites, especially holiday spice. Kulfi, some like it hot, tomcat, lancaster, and cherry trees at night sound good, too, if you make any of those. If you're making black fire truffles but not the three-pepper bars, I'd sign up for a few of those, too.

You got it. Would you like me to pack you a random set of dark and white bars, emphasizing the ones you've got here, or would you like to choose your own selection from what's listed? (No Tomcat, and I made Vancouver instead of cherry trees at night (no cocoa nibs); giving thanks (orange white w/ cranberry), black thai (dark w/ lime, coconut, curry) and ginger cardamom in white are also available.

It looks like one of each of the flavors you have listed in this post would fill out a pound? But whatever mix is convenient would be fine, leaning mildly towards dark and/or spicy over white and/or fruity if it's a toss-up. I am probably easily tempted if you've made extras.

Great! I apparently forgot to ask when you would like to pick your chocolates up. I'll be at MIT most evenings except Tuesday for the next week, at my office in Bedford most days, and at my house in Waltham... well, not very often, but at least Tuesday night and Sunday day.

Let me know what works for you. I'll bring your chocolates with me so you can pick them up whenever you'd like. (For more specific coordination, e-mail me: ariel (at) chocolatesbyariel (dot) com.)
