I know what you mean about going in different directions as well-- not really the same, though... I never had intended to make any of my characters into dolls when I started. (I had only toyed with the idea of getting Tris, at first ;D ) But now, I have SUCH a strong connection to him that I feel hesitant about buying dolls that I won't have that pre-existing connection to. Also, the style of doll I like has changed a LOT.
Just how it goes, I guess, but you're right-- it DEFINITELY keeps it exciting! :D

Yeah, I find it really interesting how things evolve in this hobby... I look back on the first dolls I wanted and kinda go... "eh? really? good thing I had no money @_@." A world without doll Tris?? I can't imagine!! I think the pre-existing relationship with the character really does influence how you feel about their shells... I know I feel more for my redheads than the others.. and it's sort of true with my writing too.
Such is life xD

Den of Angels is THE north american forum if you want to find out more about these things. You do have to join to see the pretty pictures though. Everyone is really nice, to the point of niceness being a fascist quality... Rainbows and puppies and candy OR ELSE. But overall it's a fabulous board with tons of helpful people and info, and I've made a few friends there :3
