Ok dudes, I need your help. I need to get from any airport in England to Seattle, on a non-stop flight. The cheapest I've found so far for me and the Megs (on my lap) is $2015.34 including all taxes and such. I want to leave in mid-July and come back in mid-August. If you can find a dramatically cheaper flight (like, $100 or more) cheaper ( Read more... )

Can you book on a UK site/pay in pounds?

Outbound - Tuesday 10 Jul, 2007
15:05
10 Jul 16:35
10 Jul Heathrow (London) Seattle BA0049
British Airways Economy (Traveller)
£ 976.30

Inbound - Thursday 16 Aug, 2007
18:40
16 Aug 11:45
17 Aug Seattle Heathrow (London) BA0048
British Airways Economy (Traveller)

Price breakdown
Passenger Price Taxes, fees, charges and surcharges* per person Inclusive total
1 Adult £ 655.00 £ 156.40 £ 811.40
1 Infant £ 65.00 £ 99.90 £ 164.90

I *THINK* the current exchange rate (the one you get with a credit card is about 1.97, so gbp976.30 = $1923.31

BA say it is 976.30 GBP = 1953.38 USD approximately.approximately.
1 GBP = 2.000800 USD based on today's exchange rate - but I don't think you can get that rate on a credit card.

wait, ignore my calculation - I have no idea what you would get on a credit card going dollars to pounds, that's what you'd get going pounds to dollars. It's got to be MORE going dollars to pounds...

Dude. I just found like 10 different flights through orbitz.com that are WAY cheaper than that. Like, $300+ cheaper. (I searched LHR to SEA, 7/13 and 8/15... though I couldn't figure out how to add the "kid in lap" option, so the pricing may be off.)

$300-ish is about the cost of a kid in lap (usually 20% of adult fare plus all taxes). :(

Ahhh yes, but you did JUNE to July, not July to AUGUST. When you put in my months, it's still expensive. :(

I thought I had seen before those dates were the ones you wanted to fly. I neglected to read this post in full...my bad. Is there a reason you could not go earlier?

We go to our cabin the last week of July and first week of August. The lake is still pretty cold at the begining of July.
