Hi there, dear linguaphiles,

Are any of you familiar with the CocoAspell spell-checking system? I have to use it for a new job, and I can't make it work. Google has failed me too. Boo.

I'm running OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and I downloaded the latest version of CocoAspell. I followed the installation instructions to a T, and I had no trouble ( Read more... )

It apparently installs as part of System Preferences, which is its own application. The individual preference pane is under (probably) the OS X path /Library/PreferencePanes/Spelling.prefPane If you open Terminal and try "ls /Library/PreferencePanes/Spelling.prefPane" (no quotes), you should see if it's there.

In that case, the best way I'm aware of to remove it is to follow the steps here: http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/mac-os-x-tutorial-remove-unwanted-third-party-preferences/ (I.e. go to System Preferences, right click/ctrl-click on the item, and select 'remove'.)

Which dictionary do you have enabled? Have you tried a different one, to see if you get the same result?

I will try that, thanks! I added the Greek dictionary, but the English one doesn't appear to work either. Or if it is, I can't tell the difference from the built-in English. If your other idea doesn't work, I'll try installing another one. Thank you!
