hello, just received this postcard via postcrossing and would like to know what the Frisian phrases on the front are, as well as the message in Dutch (I believe) on the back although I have a general idea of what it says. thanks! ( cut for 2 photos )
Can't help with the Frisian (sadly, I wish I could speak it), but I think the Dutch says: As you wanted to translate: On the other side, a few phrases in the Frisian dialect. A province in the Netherlands. Sorry that the postcard took a while, was at sea in Scotland for 3 weeks and one week in Dublin!
Going on guesswork alone, I'd say 'In lyk man is in ryk man' means something like 'an equal/even man is a rich man'. And stretching my lack of Frisian knowledge even further, I'd say that 'as de boer gjin oalje hat...' means 'if the farmer has no oil, he pisses in a lamp'. But I'm not even sure of what that means in English!
