Oh, and the last 2 or so minutes are fine, I think. I mean they don't talk much because he gets the Palme D'Or and they hug and I think I get what he says in his speech, so the first 4 minutes of the entire video is really important.
But thank you very, very much for your time and all you've done so far! I really appreciate it.

You should not feel confident about the rest of the text. It is riddled with translation errors. You have misunderstood what he was saying at many places where you have no question marks. I inderstand that it is very difficult to translate this because he is speaking French with a very strong accent and he is also making French mistakes constantly.

Ok, then could you please help me? I am trying to help out a friend who was given this job but those who gave her the video to be translated did not watch it and did not know that there are French segments in it. The other parts are in German and she's fine with it but I'm the only one who knows a little French so she can only rely on me. Which in this case is bad news.
I hoped that maybe for a native speaker it wouldn't be so much of a problem to help out.

I was coming back to see how things were going, with the idea of asking you to post the actual text form of your subbed translation, right in a comment, if you wanted me to help you out. I type very slowly and badly and just correcting things in text form istead of redoing everything would have made thins go fast. But I see down there that somebody who can type fast (and also has a perfect mastery of French and English) has already done everything possible that I can imagine.

Thanks anyway. No, I didn't want anyone to transcribe the whole thing, I just needed the blanks to be filled. Yes, probably I should have posted the text file as well.

Oh my God. Thank you, very much. I can't be thankful enough!
I have already started to feel depressed that I wouldn't be able to translate it. Thanks you!!!!

Haneke's french is full of mistakes and "Ziva moments". He says "suivre lettre par lettre" when the correct phrase is "suivre à la lettre". He says "juif-chrétien" when I'm pretty sure its hould be judéo-chrétien. I don't know what word he was fishing for when he said "interlocation" (was it "interrogation" ???).

When he says "dès qu'on l'érige à l'absolu", the correct form should be "érige en absolu".

I see everyone else has given this audio text a thorough going over already, but having spent a little time on it myself, I though I'd add my two eurocents' worth too ( ... )

:) Thanks.
I've just watched it. I was anticipating a more violent film but it wasn't too much. Physically, I mean. It was more verbal.
