21st: We had our Christmas service at church, and it was lovely. I love that we have an honest-to-God interior decorator as the pastor's mom-in-law. Angie is AWESOME and FULL of AWESOME ideas! I want her to come and work on my house....except that she would probably be ( Read more... )

LMAO, so I'm not the only one that has those kinds of "posters." XD

Re: Happy Holidays - I say Happy Holidays or Happy Solstice because it's a lot less awkward than "Happy unspecified winter celebration which I don't celebrate because I'm a filthy heathen." Christmas is just one of many of those holidays, regardless of the amount of people who choose to celebrate it. Besides, I have good friends who worship everything from Allah to Zeus, and I'd rather say something that includes them instead of excludes them.

I just tend to feel offended, as a Christian, when someone DOESN'T say Merry Christmas to me ( ... )

I never said that Merry Christmas offends me personally - it's just petty semantics that I can do without. And I will say Merry Christmas to people I know to be Christian. But I say Happy Holidays to strangers, because you just don't know, no matter what they look like. Our world is too diverse and connected now to act like things that were cultural norms 50 years ago are still so widespread.

*nods* Yeah, that makes sense. I'm just the type of person that will say Merry Christmas, no matter what. *G*

Oh, BTW, how'd your calendar turn out? I'm working on Feb. right now.

THEY ARE! I love them! They're $60 posters...but I got Indy (The Last Crusade, even!) for $40 and we got Bond for $35, I think. Besides, you can't go wrong with Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford hanging on your walls! ;)

(I STILL can't get enough of this icon! *GLOMPS YOU AGAIN*)

JSYK, people on my flist celebrate the Solstice, Hanukkah, Christmas, Yule and no particular celebration at all, so really, I have to say if you don't like my saying "Happy holidays", that's your problem, not mine, so deal with it. You're not the only person or the only Christian on my list, and Christianity is by far not the only religion on my flist. In fact, it's probably outnumbered - and I'm not Christian myself either.

Okay, now I'm spamming your journal (because I'm procrastinating) but I've gotta say, your side notes are completely made of win.
