I just tend to feel offended, as a Christian, when someone DOESN'T say Merry Christmas to me.

I heard a radio personality a couple of weeks ago say something about how, yes, there IS a war on religion in this country...it's a war AGAINST Christianity because we Christians are the only people that are still allowed to be made fun of and attacked without fear of legislation. Gays can't be even KIND OF talked down to, people of varying races can't be poked fun at, people of religions OTHER than Christianity, or even people that have no faith or religion AT ALL can't be made to look like fools, yet it's okay for me and mine to be called idiots because we believe in God and confess our faith.

I think that all of the big companies out there, the TV networks, etc saying happy holidays instead of Merry Christmas is a way of playing to everyone else's feelings, and I'm just tired of it. EVERYTHING is Happy Holidays in general now. It used to be Merry Christmas AND Happy Holidays...

I guess I'm just sensitive to it that no one wants to remember the reason for Christmas and celebrate it in accordance to that. But my point is that it still says Christmas on our calendars...until they take it off (and, in my opinion, even PAST then), I think we need to say Merry Christmas and not live in fear that we're going to get raked over the coals for saying that, you know?

If you're not a Christian, then just let "Christmas" be a word to you, or just another day, but don't get pissed when someone tells you "Merry Christmas" and then levy a lawsuit against that person's employer for giving you well-wishes that coincide with their beliefs or, as it may be, that DON'T coincide with yours. Does that make sense? I LOVE Christmas...and without hearing that when I go to the store, or in ads on TV, it doesn't feel like Christmas any more.

I'm passionate today, what can I say?

I never said that Merry Christmas offends me personally - it's just petty semantics that I can do without. And I will say Merry Christmas to people I know to be Christian. But I say Happy Holidays to strangers, because you just don't know, no matter what they look like. Our world is too diverse and connected now to act like things that were cultural norms 50 years ago are still so widespread.

*nods* Yeah, that makes sense. I'm just the type of person that will say Merry Christmas, no matter what. *G*

Oh, BTW, how'd your calendar turn out? I'm working on Feb. right now.

HMM. Unless you wanted to post it at the comm first...?

Who should do the intro for the project once we post yours? I figure we should have one...just because if we didn't we'd be pretty much advertising for just anyone to do one of them.

And I'm kinda curious as to how you did your calendar setup. I just did the one for Feb. and I'm not sure I like it. HMM.

Maybe this is a conversation to move over to the comm...lol.
