Nekkid fencing could be hazardous for their love life, so for very selfish reasons, I'm quite happy they have all the important bits and pieces covered and protected. ;)

I can't thank you enough for sharing all those drafts with us. It's so fantastic to see how a picture evolves and gets shaped, and how much care you put even in the smallest detail. Happy customer here! :-D

Favourite detail: first drawing, the sketch of the gloved hand holding the sword/floret/pointythingyofchoice. For no particular reason, just because. :)

You're very, very welcome! This really is a win-win situation, as drawing makes me happy, this makes the muses happy, which results in more pretty pictures, which then make other people happy, a fact that makes me happy in turn. :D

Hands are great fun to draw, unless they're being difficult. Especially when I want to draw a right hand while at the same time needing my right hand to draw... Left hands are not the best reference material, since you have to then imagine the mirror image. *g* Or work in front of a mirror, which can be difficult as well. [/geek]

It makes me want to either write, fence, or draw. ;) My fingers are itching for my sketch pencils despite the fact that I'm trying to tell them to wait until I have the proper instruction tools!

I am looking for a copy of that book you recommended.

Glad to hear that those sketches inspire you! :)
And if I may give you some small advice: listen to your fingers! Don't wait for proper tools or instructions or books... if you want to do something, anything, then do it. The result doesn't matter, and you don't have to show anyone if you don't want to, but every minute of practice helps ~ even if only to figure out what to improve. ;)
Doodle as much as you can - that way, when you start working on something a little more advanced, you'll have figured out how to draw clean lines, how to smudge and shade and construct/design.
There's NO way to tell you what is right and what is wrong - you'll know. I often found that I had already figured out for myself what those books told me. Not always as elegantly and quickly, but just as efficient... and in the end, that is what counts.

Just grab a pencil and scribble away! (It's also a wonderful way of relaxing and letting the mind wander.) :)

Eventually I'd like to sketch out a few scenes from a story I'm in the middle of editing and adding on. I can see some of the scenes in my mind, and I think it would be quite easier if I could see them as I write.

For right now though that goal is far away until I can actually draw people correctly, let alone what clothes they may be wearing!

Well, you'll have to start somewhere some day, so the sooner you start the sooner we'll get to see your story with illustrations by the author... :)
Practice really is everything, and it takes time and patience - but it's worth it.

If it makes you feel better: I think we all would like some USB hub from our brain to our graphics software, so that we could download what we see before our inner eye directly to the computer. At least I know I would like that sometimes... ;)

Love the look on the guy's face on the first one.

*hugs*

:) The expressions change a bit every time I draw them... Sometimes that makes it difficult to choose the right facial expression for a scene, because it might change the entire situation a lot...

*hugs back*

Heehee. Sorry, couldn't help it. I get the body cleaned up here...

*coughs* Anyway. Yes. Muchly enjoyable. I was actually giggling over the fact that they would have been stabbing each other. This is extraordinarily enjoyable! ^.^

Zombies in my art LJ... well, I hope it was a pleasant death. ;)

The "stabbing each other" wasn't obvious before ~ but as I was looking over it again, it struck me as a bit odd, so I actually drew the lines for the correct perspective into it and "D'oh!"
Those are the moments when you either decide to not give a f**k or to start over again because you wouldn't want to be caught dead with a mistake like that... I chose the latter option this time. But sometimes I just can't be bothered, and afterwards those pictures make me cringe every time I have to look at them again - because that's the first thing my eye gets drawn to. :P
