Now if you keep doing these sketches, you're going to give my brain too much time to attach stories to them and unfortunately my writing is falling too flat right now to do them justice. Not that I want you stop though...I enjoy the pretty navyboys either way. :)

You draw people so well. Whenever I try to draw a person even from a picture they tend to look horribly deformed. I even got my sketchbook out last night, determined to sketch something but nothing came of it.

Well, don't blame me if your muses are inspired by the antics of mine... ;)

I'm really glad that people aren't bored by this - I hadn't expected anyone to comment on these, to be honest, so I'm really pleasantly surprised. ;)

As for drawing - I actually am not that good at drawing from models or photographs. Maybe if you tried remembering the basics of the human body and then constructed them without reference? If you look closely, I build all my bodies out of spheres and egg-shaped clumps ~ once you figure out how they stick together, it's surprisingly easy...
If you're interested, there's also Ron Tiner's book "Figure Drawing Without A Model", which helped me tremendously.

Thanks for the recommendation. Hopefully I'll be able to buy it when I have incoming money again. ;) I'd like to actually draw a person without having them appear like they've been in an accident.

Heehee! I love this, how you are letting us see the process... It'll make the final result just that much more.. fascinating?

And Mrs N is definitely right. You draw people beautifully. ^^

Well, I confess that I'm really surprised how many people are interested in this and comment so positively on the sketches... I know that I'm fascinated by picture stages, but I know it's wrong to assume everyone is. ;)

A few more sketches, and we'll get to the result by the end of the week! *g*

As for drawing people - well, it's what I practised most of the time. Now if you asked me to draw a cat or dog from memory, that would be slightly less impressive, I guess... ;P

Well, there you have it! *insert something meaningful and accurate here* xP

*dances*

Aha! Yeah, I suppose it would all come down to practice, in the end. Slightly un-romantic, but hey, whatever. xPP

*g* That sheet of paper is a true collection of craziness straight from my brain. In fact, looking at it now feels really strange, because it's anything BUT the project I was working on...

Posts started Monday, and will continue daily until Friday, to complete the first "Sneak-a-peek" week at lineae. *g*
After so many positive comments on this, I'm quite sure I'll find something to tease you through a second week sometime soon! ;)

A great idea to show the development of your art! But you know what I love best? Young Gillette in the rigging! It's amazing how you captured his joy and the wind in his hair with a few lines. :)

I guess it would only be fair to say that I have to thank you for the courage and decision to actually post these instead of just putting the sketches away... but not in my wildest dreams did I expect that so many people would be interested or comment favourably on them. ;)

After all, why shouldn't people get to see that it's not just a flash of divine inspiration and half an hour later there's a finished picture posted on LJ?

At least I knew that you'd be interested in all the by-products and silly doodles that my brain comes up with while sketching!
