Title: "Lord Cutler Beckett" by lineae Rating: G Disclaimer: No harm meant, no money made. The boys just kindly allow me to draw them from time to time. ;)
;) Just you laugh... I think Mr. Beckett is not one to dirty his hands by hitting me himself - he has got Mr. Mercer for jobs like that. The black paper is indeed tricky, and the outcome less pleasing than the brown or cream-coloured, so I think there won't be much art like this in the future. It was a try, but I guess the technique is not for me... Thanks! *g*
Much better than anything I could have done for it! ;) I understand though about the paper. I had to do something on black paper once for a drawing class...it didn't turn out well. ;)
Well, I'm not entirely happy with this one, I just had to make too many compromises between the image I had in my head and the result on the paper - so I think I won't be using much black paper in the near future. It's just too tricky. I'd have loved to see your version of this, though. Maybe we should do an art contest sometime? ;)
I think I was equally surprised to see Beckett pop up on paper. ;D He didn't stay, either, so this looks like it was a one-off and "draw Beckett" can now be crossed off my list of "things to do in my life". *g* The texture is something that had me tearing my hair, as the chalks wouldn't blend properly on this paper. No idea why - it just didn't look like what I had in mind. I eventually stopped before making it worse. ;) But thanks for your comment!
Yeah, I can see what you mean about taking photos and the results being not good... But the piccies look interesting. You need to ask Santa for a new scanner this year! :D
I love my scanner - which is why I'm always a bit miffed about the fact that my regular watercolour paper comes in 24x32cm when the scanner surface is only 21x30cm. >_< Taking pictures always gets either the lighting or the angle wrong, or both end up so screwed that it takes too long to bother at all... If I didn't have a scanner, I doubt that there'd be much art happening here either. :)
*laughs* That guy is a nasty little bugger, and drawing him was a real challenge because the paper and pencils didn't like each other, and I still think he's got a kind of crazy gleam in his eyes... Oh well. It was worth a doodle. ;) *smooch*
It's beautiful! I dated a guy who was an actual for real descendant of Lord Wellington, and he had the family portrait of him in his livingroom. It was done on black with chalk just like that, in a gorgeous old hand-carved wooden frame. That was the first thing I thought of when I saw your picture.
Eep! I would have loved to see that! :D Especially the frame - the way you describe it, it must have been quite something... And I'm honoured that my little drawing reminds me of awesome things like that. :)

Black paper... That is tricky. He looks lovely, especially the laced cravat is wonderful!

I admit it - I was surprised to see it Beckett, of all people. ^_^ But decent enough, nonetheless.

I can imagine. I'd about lose it, too. And probably sooner. ... In fact, most definitely sooner.
