There's a site called Donors Choose where teachers can post fundraising projects and goals (for example, this teacher in California wants to buy a classroom set of "How to Eat Fried Worms" and "A Cricket in Times Square" for his/her 4th graders). Anyone can then donate money to fund those projects

Thanks for posting this! I've been reading through it all (including the section on involving students in selecting projects for other students!)-- that interests me more than actually writing up a proposal myself.
