This is really cool
There's a site called Donors Choose where teachers can post fundraising projects and goals (for example, this teacher in California wants to buy a classroom set of "How to Eat Fried Worms" and "A Cricket in Times Square" for his/her 4th graders). Anyone can then donate money to fund those projects.
Right now they have something going on called the Blogger Challenge where bloggers are being encouraged to promote donation to Donors Choose; several companies, including SixApart, are offering prizes for drumming up the most support for DC.
