maybe you should just let it degenerate into a stream of consciousness, just for a while. mine is definitely no epic, huge chunks of it are very close to stream of consciousness... maybe some of that will also spill forth some ideas which you can shape into what comes next. at least, that's what i tell myself! :D

and that tattoo looks hawte! ;)

*hugs* I don't think anyone is really creating anything that is even close to epic. My prose is really, really rambling a lot. And I've liked what I've read of yours so far.

And I'm always a believer that the first draft should be messy, you should put anything in that comes to mind. You shouldn't try to edit yourself until, well, you're editing.

No matter what happens by the end of the month, you've ALREADY got serious word count in, and you know you can write this stuff. And if you need any support, I'm behind you, and so are quite a few NaNoers.

I missed it again! And I'm guessing now there won't be anymore with Nov almost over. :(

I'd like to add my name to the chorus of "not creating anything epic". I've got a bunch of words on a page, but that's about it - no coherent themes to speak of, characters that are utterly two-dimensional, and little idea of how I'm going to fill 16,000 words with what plot I have remaining.

At the same time, though, I feel stronger about this manuscript than I have about any of the others that I've written. By the time I reach March/April, and am on my third draft of it, it should be half-way respectable.

Remember, this is your first novel. The first time anyone tries anything, they're hardly ever satisfied with what they have at the end. So it's good that you're getting the unserious novel out of the way now, so that your skills will be more polished by the time you work on the "serious" novel.

Sorry, this has become too long and rambling, and probably doesn't actually make any sense ...
