My grandmother died this afternoon.

I was at work, just back from lunch, at 12:30. At 12:30m my mother in law called and said that Grandma wasn't doing well... that she could rally, or it could be a day or two. I thought about finishing the day at work, and going up after, but something in her voice told me to go right then ( Read more... )

Thank you, pet. I think she could hear us. And I have a feeling this is going to sound weird, but I'm glad that she didn't wake up. She was a very faithful woman, and not at all afraid of death, but so, so scared of dying. It was hard on us, and we didn't get to hear her say goodbye, but she never knew she was dying, and I think that was a blessing.

I'm so sorry. It's always horrible to lose someone, but you were able to be with her, and it sounds like she led a long and full life, and loved, and was loved in turn.

She did. She lived to see her children married and happy, and a lot of her grandchildren married and having kids too--seven great-grandchildren. That's pretty special. I'll miss her.
