It's been a full week since my interview, I've heard nothing yet, and they're still running the ad in the paper. I'm really not sure what to take from that... or what the policy is for what someone should do, in this eventuality. Is a follow-up email appropriate? Caveat: These things are very dependent on local culture, and I live in Germany, so this may be different for you. That said:

I would always call as a follow-up, never send an email. It's more personal, makes a better impression - and makes it harder to put you off. *g* A week seems a bit short to me, though; I'd give it another few days, and then call the person who was the main interviewer specifially. Ask to be put through to them if you don't have their number.

They said that they'd get back to me by Friday. On the off chance that they meant the following Friday, I'm going to hold off until tomorrow. If the job is posted again, I'm going to follow up, either in person, or on the phone. As much as I hate hate hate doing that, well... I'll do it. Ew.
