This was my first time canning where I was doing a lot of it. I have made jam before. My mum was the one in charge though. And the one swearing.

I just really hate most purchased canned fruit, because it's almost all canned in syrup. So much better canned in fruit juice.

It was the strangest dance of constant activity. Cut pears, peel pears, put soother back in, put pears in jars, pour hot water and sugar over them, make bottle, feed baby, slice pears. With lots of hand washing in between.

I had it easy. The AH was chopping firewood with my dad.

No, even better--my MOTHER taught him new words! Or, he fled before she could, one or the other.

The twins remain uncanned. Thank goodness.
