The Professor !

For a couple of years now, since I first heard about the tradition of toasting The Professor on his birthday, I have been meaning to participate. I have also, in recent months, been meaning to actually post in this journal for a change! Tonight I do both ( Read more... )

Hey there! Good to see you back on LJ. This is a lovely post and thank you for links. Very interesting reading, as you said.

I've always loved that photo of Tolkien sitting at the base of a tree. It makes me wonder if it's an Ent friend. ;>)

Hi to you too, and thanks for the welcome back! I have occasionally lurked around here, but I am planning/hoping/resolving to actually *post* with at least some frequency. I was going to start on New Year's Day, but I managed to begin this New Year already two days behind (almost three). :-) Of course, Tolkien's birthday *is* a fine day for a New Year's celebration!

Glad you enjoyed the post and the links. Everytime I run across another Tolkien site, I'm just amazed at how much is out there.

I really like that photo of JRRT under the tree also. Ent friend, yes! Maybe it's TreebArd. (Unless Treebard should be Tolkien himself!) It also reminds me of Frodo sitting under the tree reading...our first sight of him in "Fellowship". *happy sigh*

Happy New Year !

Oh! Right! I hadn't thought of that.

Did you hear the great news that Elijah will be in The Hobbit? The film is going to open with Frodo reading about Bilbo's adventures. How cool is that?

I wish you luck keeping up with LJ. I hardly posted at all for almost a year, but I've been managing an entry every couple of weeks for a while now. My biggest problem is reading my friends page. I get alerts when about 15 or so people do a new entry and those are the only ones I read as a rule. I spend 90% of my time at communities devoted to my numerous fandoms.

I hope you have a great new year, too. I can't believe it's been eleven years already since we welcomed 2000...and waited for the Internet to crash. LOL

Frodo under the tree: "My name is Mr. ...Undertree..." Of course, Fro's prettier than JRRT, but then Fro is prettier than most creatures in heaven, earth, or Middle-earth ( ... )
